- Improved scalability - The free SQL Server 2005 Express database will now support up to 10,000 clients. Network traffic between the agent and policy server has also been reduced.
- File Protection Policies - The configuration of the two file protection methods, continuous and snapshot, have been "unified" to a large extent. This provides the administrator a simpler, more logical way to configure file protection.
- Better control of user's ability to restore from another computer - The administrator can now allow no users, all users, any administrator, or only domain administrators to restore files from another computer. This was often an issue if a laptop was lost/stolen or a hard disk failed and a new computer with a different name was provisioned as a replacement. In this case the original computer no longer exists and the user files must be restored from a "different computer".
- Support for 64-bit Windows - The Yosemite FileKeeper Policy Server can be installed on the 64-bit version of any of the operating systems listed in the System Requirements section above. However, the Yosemite FileKeeper Policy Server must run in 32-bit compatibility mode and may not be compatible with other Web applications running on the same server. See the Known Issues section above for more information.
- Several terminology changes - In an effort to avoid confusion and have more meaningful names, the following terms have been changed ...
- Backup Location is now called Data Vault
- Local Repository is now called Version Store
- Open File Protection is now called Snapshot File Protection
- Yosemite FileKeeper Policy Server updates - If the server where the Yosemite FileKeeper Policy Server is installed can access the Internet, you can now easily check for and download the latest Yosemite FileKeeper Policy Server update package directly from the About page in the Yosemite FileKeeper Administrator.
- Translations - The Yosemite FileKeeper Policy Server is now available in Japanese in addition to English. The language setting of the browser determines the language displayed for the Yosemite FileKeeper Administrator.
- Bug fixes - There have been a variety of bugs fixed.
Please refer to the companion agent release notes for the new features in the Yosemite FileKeeper Agent.

Installation
on 64-bit operating systems - Yosemite FileKeeper Policy Server
runs in 32-bit compatibility mode on a 64-bit Windows operating system. This
means that Internet Information Services (IIS) must be running in 32-bit mode.
If it is not, the installation will detect that during its check of
prerequisites and give you the option of setting IIS into 32-bit mode. If there
are other Web applications on the server that require IIS to be in 64-bit mode,
you will not be able to install the Yosemite FileKeeper Policy Server on that server.
The known applications that are incompatible with the Yosemite FileKeeper Policy Server
on a 64-bit Windows operating system are ...
- Microsoft Exchange 2007 with Web mail (Outlook Web Access)
·
Installation
with Microsoft SharePoint - When the Yosemite FileKeeper Policy Server
is installed on a server running Microsoft SharePoint, you may get a 404 error
"The page cannot be found" when you run the Yosemite FileKeeper Administrator. The Microsoft
knowledge base article at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828810 describes the issue and the
resolution. Note that this issue applies to all ASP.NET Web applications, not just Yosemite FileKeeper Policy Server.
For the Yosemite FileKeeper Policy Server
to run on a server using SharePoint, you will need to do the following ...
- Use the SharePoint administration tools to create exclusions for the two Yosemite FileKeeper Policy Server Web applications ... fkadmin and fkcentral.
- Modify the two Yosemite FileKeeper Policy Server web.config files (fkadmin\web.config and fkcentral\web.config) to add the <httpHandlers> and <trust> XML code as described in the Microsoft knowledge base article referenced above.
· Browser settings for Yosemite FileKeeper Administrator - If you have problems displaying the Yosemite FileKeeper Administrator pages in your browser, please check the browser security settings. The Yosemite FileKeeper Administrator requires the following ...
- JavaScript must be enabled.
- The popup blocker must be disabled for the fkadmin Web site.
- Other restrictive security settings may need to be modified depending on your particular browser and its version.
·
Associating
Active Directory Groups with Data Vaults - You can associate Data Vaults
with Active Directory groups in the Data Vault Policy. All members of the
associated groups will back up to the associated Data Vault. You cannot
associate individual users. Further, if you associate an Organization Unit (OU),
only the groups within that OU are associated. Any users that are directly in
the OU are not associated with the Data Vault. The list of Active Directory
groups may incorrectly include groups other than security groups, e.g.,
distribution groups. However, only security groups will actually be associated
with the Data Vault.
Please refer to the companion agent release notes for any known issues in the Yosemite FileKeeper Agent.
