IdleAire Technologies knows all about life on the road. The rapidly growing Knoxville, Tennessee - based technology firm provides air conditioning, power, Internet access and entertainment to long haul drivers parked overnight at travel plazas, distribution centers and seaports. IdleAire’s innovative service module approach allows drivers to turn their engines off while parked, helping to save on fuel costs, avoid engine wear and reduce air pollution.
"Our goal is to deploy service modules to the over 3,800 travel plazas in North America. I am responsible for designing a scalable, secure infrastructure necessary to achieve this mission. One of Jon’s key challenges is how to secure and protect the large amount of proprietary data created by IdleAire Technologies’ mobile sales force and remote office users. “We have a unique challenge in that each new IdleAire installation requires on-site staff with at least one laptop and one desktop PC. Coast to Coast Data Protection
FileKeeper protects files stored on the local hard drives of IdleAire’s laptops/remote office users with a simple “point and click” interface to quickly restore accidentally deleted and overwritten files. FileKeeper also provides IdleAire’s employees with off-line access to files stored on corporate file servers. DPM provides continuous data protection for files stored on IdleAire’s corporate file servers. Additionally, IdleAire tested DPM across their wide area network to provide off-site, disaster recovery backups of its corporate file servers and FileKeeper Backup Locations.
Easy to deploy, Easier to Use

We defined a set of enterprise-wide data protection policies. The entire system was unobtrusive to our pilot users and required little care and feeding by our network administration staff.
