  • Client Server : The Client Server is the third primary component of the Backup Domain. The Client Server is the server that usually serves up applications, databases, or file/print functions. When the Yosemite Backup Client Server is installed on these servers, it "pushes" data to the Media Server for writing out to archiving devices. The Client Server can run natively on Microsoft Windows, Netware, or Linux operating systems.
  • Media Server : The Yosemite Backup Media Server is the second of the three primary components that make up the Yosemite Backup modular architecture and enable customers to efficiently manage and protect server data as part of your overall data protection strategy. The Media Server serves as a resource for the Master Server and receives all the data from the Client Servers. The Media Server optionally encrypts the data (NEW!) and either stores backup data directly on disk or writes it out to directly-attached archiving devices such as tape drives/libraries, CD/DVD devices, and hard disks.
